  • I need to relax!!

I am always tense, especially in the shoulders and the neck,

when I work out or do any sports , I always come back with a really tense and sore neck

basically I know that I just need to learn how to relax my body, and I have been trying meditation, also , lol, to take my mind off of pain I will also pull in my stomach and flex and concentrate on that feeling ( my abs are unbelievable because of this)

but what other things can I do to relax, because honestly I am not going to get in any better shape or more proffecient at the martial arts unless I just relax all the muscles in my body

    peace

best thing you can do man at least in my opinion is do some deep breathing. I just sit for anout 15 mins a day and breath as deeply in through you nose as you can as slowly as possinle. Then do the same when breathing out, I usually just sit cross legged.

It may not sound like it would do anything for stiff muscles. But it releases a lot of pent up well Im not really sure how to describe it. It just makes you get rid of the bad in your body you feel loose and energized.

15 mins isnt much when you think about it, just give it a try for a few days. It has worked wonders in my mental and physical conditioning.

Jiu-fu, it'll come eventually. Its just a matter of time.

You may be tensing up when fight training (natural instinct). Once you do loosen up, you will be explosive.

Eh? Relaxed is a state of mind. Not a state of body, the body being relaxed is just a side effect, I also have neck and shoulder problems, not so much anymore, but still some. Mind over Matter.

Talk to your instructor about it. My own instructor practices reiki and even offers meditation classes, all of which would help. Tai Chi or some other breathing-moving forms might also help. trying to make yourself relax is one of the hardest things for some people to accomplish.

I pretty much have to do all of my relaxation techniques in a group setting to make them effective - wether it is reiki, meditation, yoga, etc. doing it on my own just never seems to have the same effect.

You won't be sorry! (and there is the added benefit of it not being illegal)

I don't think there's anything sexist about asking a woman to give a fella a massage, nor cooking a meal - of course I would return the favor.

I appreciate a good massage after hard training, especially from a sweet, attractive gal
