I guess it just comes from me being jaded and forgetting that there are some non-asshole guys out there that aren't sexist when they say things like that.
I dated a couple of shitty guys in the past who always wanted and never gave anything back who really did believe that a woman's proper place was that whole sterotypical "barefoot and pregnant" thing. How I managed to get out of those relationships without killing them... well, I'm still proud of myself for those.

I ended up getting in the reverse situation my freshman year of college. The guy I was dating actually got mad about me doing martial arts - not because of the close bonds with the other guys, but because I put so much time into my training. When I wasn't at school or doing school work, most of the time I was at the dojo. He on the other hand, worked and watched tv (except he actually didn't even watch tv, he downloaded everything and watched it on his computer). That was it.
When me and him started having problems (only some of which were born out of his lack of understanding of my dedication to martial arts) the guys I trained with kept me going strong. One of them actually offered to take me out on a date (jokingly to make me feel better, of course) the day me and the boyfriend broke up.
Now, a year and a half later, me and him are dating and happen to have plenty of time for each other. Granted, a lot of that together time is training or watching martial arts videos, or talking about techniques, but we are both happy with it that way. It is nice to be with someone who holds themselves to similar standards - being fit and active, etc.

Hey thats cool, its allways good to find somone who you can relate too. I have had break-ups over martial arts. I aint gonna stop doing them, and if a girl doesnt understand then as far as I am concerned she isnt worth my time. I reckon if two partners train together it brings them closer to one another.
