  • Silent Fighting?

    I have a confession, I hate to make noise when I fight. I mean that I don't like to yell or do any vocalization when sparring or even in real fights. It's my nature to be silent and that comes to the forefront when I fight. A few friends insist that I should start yelling during sparing and fighting because it unnerves people, but I just don't see it. BTW: I'm a pretty big guy if that makes a difference.

    it doesn't matter if you yell or anything wile fighting.....the most it will do is let everyone in a 1 block radius know your fighting....

    yelling is more for showing spirit, not necesarily intimidation.....it realy doesn't matter.

    unless your grading for a higher belt/rank

      My thought is kinda like this, Don't attract undue attention. If you can fight without an audience, then noone knows what you can do and he's less likely to have friends around to help.

        If I ever get in a fight, I wish it was in a place where no one was around. Just me and the other dude ! Why? Because just in case I look stupid! Heh... But really Would you fight better infront fo an audience or with no one around ? I get less andrenaline with no audiences around, its like fighting on the stage.

          I'm kinda weird like that. I've never gotten a rush when I fight, even when I "responded" to a mugger. The same companions say that it's a weakness as well because I don't, well, get overly aggressive when I get into fights (which are few and far between) or spar. (Same deal with running, no endorphines there).

          I like to think of it as a strength though because it lets me think critically and see what my opponent is going to do.

            I dont yell either really. But I know judokas in my dojo do when they put all there energy into a throw they make massive grunting noises and yell. Some of them yell when practising self defense. Apart from that its up to the individual really, if they feel a need go for it

              I got a sore throat shouting "Japanese stylie" when executing techniques! I don't do it anymore!

                shout if you want.
                i fight better with an audience becasu i know that if i dont fight ill look like im scared. i used to be quite shy but i never minded being watched when i fought. perhaps i had so much adrenaline already that it didnt make any difference.
                sneak up behind them. kick them in the nuts. now the fight will be much easier to win
                drink their blood to regenerate your vampire constitution. then kill any witnesses. no one must know. bury the body. soon it will rise as a fellow undead being.

                  grunting, or a nice sharp KIA, is always good in a fight, especially when u get hit.... it tenses up muscles in your chest and stomach, so getting hit wont hurt as much, it also keeps you focused i think, if i dont make sound, i think too much... lol.... and i end up gettin hit....

                    i grunt/make the sound you hear boxers make when they fight. its a bad habit I got from my dad.

                      Exhaling when on point of impact allows the lungs to empty, thus giving better balance and control.

                      exhaling when being hit minimises the pain of being hit (your muscles are contracted.

                              I have been training for almost eight years in Karate, and I am always very vocal when I spar/fight. It increases the ammount of adrenaline in my bloodstream, and usualy scares the daylight out of the person I am sparring/fighting. To see my point, try this simple excercise. Next time you get a chance to spar, as soon as the fight starts, yell at the top of your lungs (I make a noise like AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA), charge, and attack with everything you have while still yelling. Take a breath, then keep yelling until you get a point. Mac, if you don't have any adrenaline at this point, then count on never having it when sparring. Your opponent will, nine times out of ten back up when you charge. This puts them on defensive and you on offensive. I rarely lose a match in which the other person was always on defensive mode. If you can keep them in the mentality that they are about to get smashed, they panic. When they panic, they can't think straight and they lose most of the time. Hope this helps.
