Funny replies however, I'm actually going to be serious. I believe in qi in my own way. I don't think anyone can say it really doesn't or does exist because I've heard, seen, read too many things relating to both sides. Currently I like the view that qi is or is related EMF waves. Qi might be one of those things that will surpise the hell out of us if it's scientifically proven. I mean if I told you that some 60 year old grandmother saved her granddaughter who was trapped underneath a car by lifting the car by herself would you believe that? (if you haven't heard and known the facts behind it already -_- ) No, you'd probably tell me I was talking out of my ass. However the basics of the story are true (old lady saves someone close to her by lifting up a car) and later they were able to figure out how the old lady did it. Something having to do with how we don't use all of our muscle fibers but somethings like extreme emotional stress can trigger all of them. This relates to weight lifting because usually instead of creating new muscle fibers the brain just sends signals to I think the GTO receptors to allow more muscle fibers contraction. Now as for qi, scientists have been trying to find exactly what to study in humans to prove it's existence. One of the places they are studying and what they are thinking to be the best candidate, is the brain - no pun intended. Well hopefully the collective knowledge of this forum knows that the brain is very complex and hard to study, whereas the muscles and bascially the rest of the human body is not. So maybe there is really something to qi and it's all in our heads but alot of us are just too damn ignorant to utilize it to any significant level or if at all; me included. So I won't stop believing in qi until they have fully conquered the enigma in our thick skulls.
Hopefully though my meditations which I don't do in some forest blindfolded, I just do it in my room will help me accomplish what I want right now. That is being able to put myself into "the zone" (where I think I am actually maybe utilizing a little qi - trying not to be ignorant) whenever needed, something alot of athletes are familiar with. I'm not saying how others meditate or what not is stupid, this is just my way.

OK, old zen story;
The old zen master decides to go visit his best pupil at the pupils home. It is raining and when he arrives he leaves his wet sandals and his umbrella by the front door and joins the pupil, who is sitting in the back porch watching the rain.
After a brief moment the young pupil asks the old master, "Master, when you came in, on what side of the umbrella did you put your sandals?"
The old man, realizing that he could not answer, gets up, picks up a broom and...
a) Begins to sweep the floor. Realizing he had lapsed in his awareness, he submits himself to becoming the pupil.
b) Smashes the broomstick over the young man's head for havng the impudence to test him.
I go with C: he grabbed the broom and rode it to the nearest tavern where he pick up a couple of brewskies and some chicks that he later brought home with him and when he woke up he realized he had contracted a the worst case of genital warts anybody had ever encountered and all of the tiger penis and wolfs bane in the world could not cure and he is going to die but he didn't care because all that he had worked for had been blown to smitherines when some punk outdid him. yes that is my final answer.

Reminds me of the Ten Bulls of Zen.
In the first picture, a young boy going off in search of the bull (enlightenment) passes an old man who is on his way to the tavern.
In the last picture, the young boy is now an old man. Having tamed the bull, he is on his way to the tavern. On his way there he passes a young boy who is on his way to search for the bull.
yeah thats what I meant...
hmmm so I can find enlightenment at a tavern you say.
Where do you pick these things up? They are kinda cool. I could use some in the philosophy class I'm taking next semester.
