  • Where do I start

I want to start training in FMA

My club has some sticks/knives that I think are used in some of the FMA's but they're saying I won't be training with those for another year.

A year???? but I want it now!

Any ideas where I can learn some basic theory/drills?

    Thanks,
    Sameer.

    hello Samir,
Are you near Seattle? If so, I highly recomend Lema Scientific Kali Arnis System. I am apractitioner, i have been through other systems, but if you want to start right..study LESKAS. Our grandmaster is based there..his name is Elmer Ybanez, you can urf the net and find some websites about the system. God Bless.

I don't know a lot about the FMA scene in Canada. But I have do a friend up there in Muay Thai who does some cross training in FMA and may be a good place to start looking. If you E-mail him I bet he can give you a couple of local referrals.

Thanks for the info guys. Sorry Lionleo, I'm nowhere near Seattle. The closest major US centre would be Minneapolis, it's about 5-6 hour drive from here.

terry, thanks, I've recently come across Bob's web site. Sounds like a good mix for me. Incidentally, I may be moving to Ottawa in the next few months so even better!

        Thanks again guys.
