Who is calling the kettle black here? It seems what is going down in the JKD community is house cleaning... Some people are getting really piss over nothing... If you aren't a Pimp - Hoe - Collector you should be fine... This is for any dam groupie's...

You have a few beers and boot up your PC John?

House cleaning? So you agree with the move to strip Guro Dan of the right to use the name JKD? Thats good housekeeping? Is that because, according to your post John, Guro Dan must be a pimp, hoe or a collector? That's what your post is saying, is it not?

How many times have you trained with Guro Dan over the last 20 years John, isn't it quite a lot? Why did you do that? Surely we needed to clean house and get rid of pimps like him? Isn't that what you're saying John?

I think the only person here getting pissy (and I think pissed) is you.

Actually this is turning into a useful and informative thread. I hadn't heard about Guro Dan. What governing body is stripping him? Where can I read more about this? Can you post a link?

This was several years ago now HB. The Lee Estate, operating under the legal alias of Concord Moon, took the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts to court in order to prevent them using the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do. After a lengthy lawsuit the Lee Estate won, and therefore neither Guro Inosanto nor The Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts can use the name Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do.

You won't have read about it in the press and its very hard to find anything on the web, because the Lee Estate have managed the PR around the court case extremely well. Guro Inosanto has remained silent on the matter.

This discussion started in the http://www.defend.net/deluxeforums/j...d-nucleus.html thread.

Wow, that is quite a story. The way things are this day and age Guro Dan would have no problem coming up with an original name for the system he teaches and then name himself founder and 10th Dan. No one would question it but "THE MAN" is so modest and humble that he probably won't do it.

Yeah, when I read the postings I was surprised, to say the least. On the web there is nothing about the case. And this is a very shocking news.

When Mike posted that I was in shock for about 4 hours or better. I made the mistake of posting at I slipped into rage. I think that is what started this thread. I don't regret the post as much as the tone. I clarified it a bit later. I'm starting to rethink my position on trying to defend JKD/Jun Fan. If the lee family can do that to Dan in the name of the Lee estate then I would follow Bruce's advice and let the name of JKD be stricken. I don't know enough about it hate anyone for sure.

I'd bet Dan is silent since the foundation is trying to start a BL museum. And If Dan had to choose between honoring Bruce & sticking up for himself he'd choose Bruce. But I'd say the silence is bad enough. But any students of Dan or Bruce who had any part in this should rot in hell. I'm skeptical of any Bruce student now other than Larry (rest in peace old buddy/sifu) and Dan.

I gotta give Tim the benefit of the Doubt since I've been to his seminars and never heard him say a bad word about any one.

The bottom line is brother, he doesn't need to. Has the court case made a single dent to Guro Dan's popularity and respect as one of the world's greatest martial artist? No. Because as his good friend and teacher once said...

"its just a name, please don't fuss over it"

My impression would be that Dan Inosanto is a master to masters. His Inosanto concepts approach is the true basis for modern day MMA training. He has done more for FMA in the US than any other person. On hindsight (always 20/20 as they say)it may have been a mistake for him to have coined the term "the JKD concept." That term has fallen out of favor among some that pursue Bruce Lee's fighting art. Nevertheless Guro Dan stands on his own merit. Truly a JKD success story, he took the boat across the water and found his own way on the other side. I think Bruce would have been very proud of his friend's mastery.

This has nothing to due with any of BLS.... This is just an example of how anyone and the gramma that think they are connected to BL BLOWS things out of their azz, without actual reading the dam post.... I respect everyone one of BLS..... But,
I can't say that for all of their students - students

                          There llies the problem....

Get over the 90's & 00's.....It's going to be 2010....This is about only one Jeet Kune Do family issue...

                            Hey John,
I'm really not trying to piss you off. I'm sure I'm going to. Some of my posts are misunderstood or implications that are not included are added. Some of this is my fault for not cooling off before I write them. But not always. But to be fair in some of your posts it terribly hard to understand you.

Some of your posts come off as garbled jibberish.

Again not trying to piss you off. But self described 2nd generation JKD instructor it would be nice to hear your perspective. I disagree with Mike Wright at least half the time but I still like hearing his perspective. Although as of late I find my self agreeing with him a quite a bit.

                              John,

The conversations on the JKD forum over the last few days have centered around the legal action taken against Guro Inosanto. Then you posted this thread. Perhaps you were making reference to other posts or another series of events, if so could you expand so we're on the same page?

Your post was odd an left several of us rather confused, but common sense would suggest that it was in response to the topic of Guro Inosanto's court case. In which case, the intent behind your post is clear, and my response stands.

Whether or not you respect me or anyone else on here is irrelevant, I'm just a bloke on the end of a keyboard and so are you. However, if keyboard dialogue is to be meaningful, it would help if you could start making some sense. As it stands right now it just looks like you made an incoherent rant, and are trying to back peddle.

                              Something to think about.
