Anyone can get a gun, anywhere, anytime. It is not the legally owned guns being used to commit most crimes. Crimes commited using legally owned guns merely get all the press by our liberal minded media who seem to believe that if you take away all the legal and legally owned guns crime will simply vanish. I'm just pulling numbers out of my ass here, but I'd have to guess that 99.9% of all crimes commited are commited with illegal guns, either illegally owned (bought on the street, stolen, etc.) and/or just plain illegal (full auto pistols, rifles).

Truth of the matter is I can leave my house right this instant and come back with a .357 magnum within a half hour at the substantially discounted price of $100. And I live in the suburbs.

What most people do not realize is that our 2nd amendment was created partly with the intention that the people should be armed so that if we do not approve of the way our government is being run we will have the means to change it, violently of needed. Naturally our government, being self-serving and working more with self-preservation in mind rather than the will and needs of the people, wants to disarm us. Unarmed people are much easier to control and deal with. History is loaded with this, just look at Turkey, Russia and Germany. Take the guns away and you now have the power to shuffle people off to death camps (Germany under Hitler) or just kill them outright in the street (Russia under Stalin).

In Florida crime was rising, people were being assaulted and robbed at gunpoint. Then they made a "shall issue" concealed carry law where all you have to do is meet the requirements to own a gun and you could not be denied a concealed carry permit. Now the Florida general public can shoot back, so the criminals target tourists. Remember the couple from Germany that were killed several years ago? Then Florida decided that sort of thing was bad for tourism so out-of-state concealed carry permits were made legal for use in Florida. Now the tourists are armed and can shoot back, too. So crime ultimately dropped, it did not rise as predicted by the snivelling liberals who downplayed the drop in crime as a fluke.

Gun ownership is simply not allowed in Washington DC, but DC is in close running for the highest crime rate in the US. That is crime commited by people with guns, obviously illegal guns seeing as how they are illegal to carry and own in DC. Another fluke say the liberals, to the point where they don't even count DC when stating crime statistics.

My point in all this? Guns don't cause crime and deaths. People do. What's next? Make cars illegal because you can use them to run someone down?

FYI Fighter and everyone else who hasn't figured it out yet.

Don't believe everything you read, see on tv, or hear about on the internet.

Use your secret powers of deduction, induction, logic and reasoning and form your own opinions.

People (like me) are generally heavily biased, surround themselves with like minded people, and aren't searching for factual information to contradict their conclusions.

Form an opinion and search for information contrary to that opinion. If you can't find anything to convince you that you might be wrong keep looking....

P.S. Where in Australia are you located?
