  • Kenpo in Houston, TX

    If there is any interest,

I only know of a few legit guys that are in town and at least one that is suspect. Hopefully, as time goes on the Kenpo presence in Houston will grow. It is a great contemporary system, based on logic and principle based movement, that has the capacity to elevate anyones game.

The ones that I would suggest are my instructor and myself..

    Ron Braughton - www.imuakenpo.com
    Jason Bugg - www.ikenpo.com or www.houstonkenpo.com

One caveat, we both offer programs that acknowledge that value of Filipino and Indonesian martial arts. Am. Kenpo, IMUA Kenpo, Pekiti Tirsia & Sayoc Kali are the areas that are most often explored.

    Kind Regards, Jason Bugg

    Kempo in Houston

I taught Kempo in Houston in around '62-65. There was little known of MA in those days so a couple of first class phoneys tried to open dojos but they failed. Finally a guy who taught Shorin came in. Then Richard Norris taught in a dojo on, to my memory, westheimer. My students included Richard Sapp, and Harold Rymiller, and Rick Palmer. (In case any of them are still down there.) I think Sapp went on to teach a karate style but I never knew which one.
Hopefully the humidity won't keep people from giving kempo a good home in Texas, especially Houston.
    Good Luck...
