  • Suggestions appreciated. Secondary art wanted.

    Hi,

This forum seems like a helpful place. I'd like some honest opinions, please. I currently take Taekwondo and I am confident in my abilities. I have been doing it for 7 years now, and I feel it is time to take up a second art and crosstrain.

I've narrowed down my choices to two arts: Judo and Hapkido. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Which one should I add and why? Please go indepth and tell me the advantages and disadv. Thanks.

I would pick Judo since it focuses on grappling which is something that's problably brand new for you. I found that training and learning grappling principles made my striking techniques alot better. Plus, I found that most Judo schools are pretty good at what they do while finding a decent Hapkido school can be a crap shoot.

    Personally, I would try both.

Definately Judo. Like the othe guy said, good Hapkido schools are hard to come by. Also, Brazillian Jujitsu is a good choice.

judo will teach you grappling + some ground fight. BJJ will teach you grappling and lots of ground work. so if you ask me i would go for BJJ.

well he did ask between the 2 and judo is a lot easier to find than BJJ. I think that Judo would be a good asset to have, seeing as you are a TKD fighter i think you would prefer to be the dominant person whilst standing, judo allows you to do this and gives you the choice as how and when you want the fight to go to the ground, so definately Judo.
