  • meditate?

does anyone here do it on a regular basis and if so please let me know if or how it has changed your life.

    What forms do you use?
    How often?
Is there different types for different levels of stress?

    Tai chi ftw!

I try to meditate at least 2-3 times a week.
I would say it has taught me to be a lot more calm and collected in tense and uncomfortable situations. It's a great stress reliever and helps me think clearly. I know it's very cliche' so I will tie in a few examples.

ex 1: When I get angry I have a hard time communicating with words, they don't come out right and often don't reflect what I mean. I usually have to take a step back or take a breather to recollect my thoughts and intentions. Most of the time in this modern day world, things happen all around us so we can't always go to a quiet room or a "happy place". Often times, a few deep breaths, controlling my breathing helps me reign in my emotions.

ex 2: During my midterms I was heavily stressed out with the lack of sleep and working and schooling. To the point where I would get bloody noses at the most inconvenient of times. Right during the middle of a midterm I had a bloody nose and I had a bit of a STRICT professor that wouldn't allow bathrooom breaks during testing. Granted she probably would've let me go if she saw blood (maybe), but I wasn't going to risk the loss of time. So I began doing my Tai Chi breathing and I was able to slow down my heart rate and relax. After like 3 drops, my nose stopped bleeding. Thought that was kinda cool.

    Forms: Yang Tai Chi
Usually on a Friday or Saturday when I have more free time, late at night or early in the morning.

There probably are... however, I only know the meditation methods from TaeKwonDo, Tai Chi and Yoga.

I wish I did; when I was little, I studied Uechi Ryu and they did have meditation before and after class. It was very relaxing and helpful to get into the proper frame of mind. I do miss it.
