  • What is Comrac Bas?

I dont think im spelling that right, but its from this guy named Chris Clugston. His adds claim alot, and I dont put alot of stock in adds anyway, cause like all other TRS products this is supposed to be the most bad ass shit on the planet. I just wanna know what it is, Im always looking to learn something new. It claims to be gladiator frighting, but in all my studies(gladiators are like a hobby for me) I dont recall any set styles of fighting that they had. Any testimonials would be great, im totally ignorant on the subject, and didnt get much help on his site. Is it comparable to aything, what does it look like? Regardless of if you think its legit or not, i feel like an idiot not knowing at least basic stuff behind it.

Well I have never seen the video so I can only judge by my impressions. He does say it is gladiator fighting, though another description of it on the site say "Comhrac Bas is a revolutionary new way to fight and win". What they hell is it then. He has four different fighting systems that will enalbe to to whip the hell out of any one with the simple moves. 4 systems that do the same thing. A lot of marketing. But that does not mean that what he has to offer isn't good.

Hey, while I was writing I found a review for you.

      Thanks man...

that review was exactly what i was looking for. Id still like to hear from anyone with experience with CB, but that review did help answer some questions I had.
      Anybody else know anything?

I've done a lot of research on historical schools of fighting and ancient Rome, and I don't know if this Comrac Bas thing is any good, but I assure you its a complete lie on a historical level. Not only are there no records of fighting styles in ancient Rome (there are military manuals, but those are different), the simple fact remains that gladiators weren't necessary Gallic and were probably from Italy, Asia Minor, Spain, Germany, and Northern Africa. So, they wouldn't have a Gallic term for their fighting style. I know it sounds dorky, but I wouldn't trust a system that bases itself off completely made up historical facts. Not to mention gladiators fought armed, not unarmed. Between that and pankration I don't know why people try to blatantly make up historical facts to validate their systems....

Yes it is a good package! BTW don't put any faith in those stupid-ass MAVR reviews. Those guys have a personal grudge against Clugston. They got pissed when he wouldn't provide them with free tapes for them to review (as if they were qualified to review anything). MAVR later auctioned all of the tapes they had recieved from other folks and made a profit on what they had recieved for free.

History never saved anyone in a fight so don't worry about truth in advertising. The package is an excellent approach to close-quarter combat.

I would also be wary of other self-appointed expert reviewers like Don Rearic and Phil Elmore. Like MAVR they are simply offering a biased, narrow-minded opinion on something which they are not qualified to judge.
