  • Martial arts (and the internet) seem to attract a bunch of Whackos

I currently train in MMA and enjoy it very much. I do it because it is a fun sport and it trains me to defend myself. Many people will argue with this point but I have worked as a bouncer for the last few years and know this to be true (I am not interested in any pointless arguments about this).

I have noticed that many people on this forum talk about stabbing, biting, etc and while anyone can do this (and it may be necessary in certain situations) I believe that spending your whole life planning on the best way to stab, poke or bite, people is very unhealthy. It is also unhealthy to spend your entire life waiting to be attacked and/or stabbed.

I also read many comments like this:
Your style is crap because if seven people with chainsaws attacked you, you would die.

While this statement is true, no one seems to be prepared to state that their own style would allow then to win (and if they did they would be lying).

The last straw was when I read the post about the lunatic who beat the dog to death. What the hell is wrong with you people. If you are a TMA'er then you should believe even more than me that having a healthy mental attitude is a huge part of studying martial arts.

To anyone who disagrees or has made any of the comments I have listed above (or has beaten a dog to death!!) I would suggest that rather than study martial arts you should spend your money on a good psychiatrist. Also, Try joining a team sport (not necessarily a fighting sport) and spending a few weeks without being completely paranoid and you will notice the quality of your life improve.

That is easy to say when your life is a white pickett fence. People here are from the rough side of the tracks where survival is a fact of life. Come to the mean streets of New York and see how you survive with that attitude.

You should have told me you were from NYC. Everyone from the city has the right to be a knife carrying lunatic who beats dogs to death.

I sincerely apologise and hope that you can forgive me.

PS: I see you are spending all day on the computer. Exactly which "Mean street" do you work/live on. I bet you are a either computer programmer or an unemployed wanker.

          right back at ya!
