I think that is should because it can open a lot more opportunities for great fighters, and it would bring more interest and viewers to the Olympics. I asked Andre Arlovski on a video chat the same question and he said "it would be good for the sport of MMA." What do you think?

No.
In my opinion alot of UFC fighters do not use their knowldge of their fighting styles..alot of times you see alot of the fighters just swinging wildly and whatnot. I am not trying to degrade the sport or the fighters in it at all, do not get me wrong it is a very exciting and hard sport. I just do not think it should be in the olympics.

Would it help MMA to be in the Olympics? Definitely... This is the pinnacle of sporting events, after all. And the exposure would be huge.
Is it going to happen? Probably not. Most people in the mainstream still see MMA as a brutal contest between local toughmen, not athletes.
On another note: I'd like to see BJJ in the Olympics. Hopefully, there would be unified rules and good officiating.

I think that it should be in. But, something may have to go. I would actually like to see something like WKA (or similar) rules kickboxing in to replace TKD too. Less risk of repeats of the 2008 fiasco. Nothing against TKD, but the judging in the Olympics was a little biased, maybe time for change. The problem is that there are already a lot of martial arts - judo, wrestling, boxing, TKD - people feel that these cover the main styles, i.e. grappling, wrestling, punching and kicking. MMA is a mishmash of them all. A good thing, as more realistic, but Olympic Committee will just ask "why do we need it?"
Personally I think that darts should be in too, esp. for London 2012. Will give us Brits a greater chance of winning a few more medals!

I did not put enough words in there. What I had meant are the Amateurs I have seen. The ones I am speaking of are the people that come in because its "cool" and what not. I understand they would not be the ones that would be fighting in the olympics. My friend fights MMA and alot of his people at his gym are very good. I am not trying to say they do not know how to fight, just right now it seems like alot of the people do it because its the thing to do. (atleast that is how it is around here)
I feel you should be able to respect That i miss spoke my opinion and I do not want to start off on a bad foot seeing as I just joined.
My apologies.
