How could I be a Mixed Martial Arts referee?

Does anyone know what credentials or courses you have to take to be a mixed martial arts referee.

I practice MMA and know alot about the sport. I'm sure I could do alot better job than some of those guys I see reffing fights.

Most referees I've seen at local shows have been people who train and who have been connected to the event's organisers or promoters. Or it's their own event.
