Clinching wrestlers is not smart unless you have the skills to stay on your feet.
The thing about the blast is that you've got to time it correctly, and have some decent power behind it
DRLashambe,
Do you mean trapping as in Wing Chun traps, or trapping as the range that encompases the clinch? WC/JKD traps need a reference point, and if you don't strike, you don't give one out. Try making them swing at you so you can find an opening--like a BJJ player would do to a boxer. If it's a hook, you can move in and jam. If it's not, a slip/parry is fine. If you can take a hit, then just keep moving and smother you way into the clinch range. I've had success with these methods. To be honest, Ryu or Terry would have better answers. A lot of the stuff I train revolves around scenarios that start and end at close range. This doesn't leave a lot of room for fancy trapping and squaring off.
You can have all the tools in the world, but if you dont know how to apply them,
they are worthless.
