  • A few systema questions

I really like the self defence of Systema, and the teachings seem so helpfull in that aspect, but is there any combat involved?

Like, is this a passive type of art?

Or do they teach you how to attack a person, or take them down (not for bullying means, but you always but you always need a good offence to balance a defence...

One thing I forgot to add on

Do they teach you how to kill a man, as they do in the army?

Because that would be really cool. Not to ever use of course, but I wanna be a "lethal weapon"

    Doesn't that sound nice? hahaha

      yes.

lol. passive thats a good one

you attack people plenty in Systema. W do allot of takedowns....alot (with you trying not to go down with them of cource)

Systema is more based on principles then technique, if your a passive person, your systema will be more passive, if your aggresive, your systema will be more aggresive.

you have allot of maturing to do. That shouldn't be the reason to start MA's. Come to practice......you'll get your answer there.

That is the saddest thing that I have ever heard. Seriously. How old are you? We need a new forum specifically for comments like this one so that they can be collectively ignored.

Actually, I have the strong urge to take your arm and hit you with it while asking you why you are striking yourself.

Relax guys I was just wondering

I thought that's what those Russians were all about, and since it's army combat, wouldn't they teach you how to kill a person?

And how bout I take a bat and beat you in the head with it. Then ask you why you're bleeding all over my new Rebok Classics.

Is that a threat? Why don't you? Because I'm a baseball player and I swing a lot harder than you. That's why. A 13 year old with arrested development issues and deep psychologcial problems couldn't hit that hard anyways. Why don't you challenge me to 'Mortal Combat' instead--I think it's more up your alley. Fatality...

Go to the martialtalk.com russian martial arts section, ask there. People there will be able to help you with it much better then i could.(not that i cant answer your question, they would just do a better job )

or go to any seminar. Or if there's a place near you go to a class.

Ok, I'd like to report that I've been to 2 classes so far, and I already love it...

It's so much different than any martial art I have ever heard of...

They teach you how to take hits (absorb the energy) and use it against your attacker...

Right now I'm having problems relaxing (which is very important in this art) which effects how I move, which is also very important...

Kingston, thank you very much for telling me about this place. usually whenever I am in a martial art (Tae Kwon Do, Karate) I think that you have to master it, and that you are better than one another. In this system everybody learns equally. When I was in Tae Kwon Do, I didn't want to tell enyone about it, because I thought if someone wants to fight me, they'd find out the hard way, and I'd keep all my knowledge for myself. But now I want to tell everyone about it, because it's so good. Already I've brought 5 new people with me.

Also, do you think American boxing or Mauy Thai kickboxing is better to combind with Systema?
