I know, ya gonker. Thats why I asked here to.

As far as I understand it is some kind of tactic to overload your opponents senses. It seems to be about ripping away at the face, putting him in panic mode so he not only gets hurt, he cant fight back.

        Anyone?

            Bri,
I've gone to one of Rich Dimitri's seminars, and the one I went to focused primarily on shredding. I was very impressed.

It's difficult to describe, but it is basically this:
A series of gross-motor movements that are designed to overload the opponent's reflexive response. There isn't really a limit to what you can do, but it is usually composed of rakes, gouges, elbows, palm strikes, neck cranks, ripping, tearing, and crushing. It flows very well. By this, I mean that every rake has an elbow strike or a palm strike that follows it, which is followed by tactics x,y,z. No large movements, no big chambers. This pretty much ensures that you land all of your shots. As far as application goes, I was also very impressed. Being shredded--even lightly--sucks. It puts you on the defensive, and it is EXTREMELY difficult to recover control of an altercation (simulated in my case). When shredding, it is very easy to gain the chest to back position on a standing opponent. On the ground, if you can get a hand or two on the other guy's face, you can do it. The reason it works is that it is continuous. It's not just a single gouge or bite while hoping the other guy freaks.

The only issue with the shredder can be use of force, as it tends to cause a lot of damage. Rich covered this at the seminar. He would also give this disclaimer: The shredder is not a replacement for other tools and attributes that you should possess, but it is an incredible tool to have (and it doesn't take a year to learn how to do it). Use it if it works for you.

            Hope that helped.

Not to mention that Ryan is excellent at scratching, biting, and pulling hair....

Thanks Ryan. And that Dimitri guy seems such a nice bloke too. I rather think he deserves some of my hard earned cash.

Spanky, I will get the Shredder package, and I'll review it too. Just for you, darling. XXX
