you're forgetting that tyson is what, in his high 30s if not 40s? his reaction is greatly slowed from age. The amount of punishment his body can take should've lowred by now. I say Bob sapp will riphim a new one.

Some remarks:
So let me get this straight.
Tyson born '66 is an old guy, while Sapp born '64 is a newborn baby
(Holyfield at age 40, and Lewis 38, do you have the same thoughts about them?)
"Reaction greatly slowed from age" Exactly what physical data do you have to support this? Have you seen the reaction times of track sprinters (both men and women) in their late 30s to be slower than their younger counterparts? (cristie and ottey being extremes at this) I noticed no difference at all even in the recent world championship.
Maybe you should be informed that a fighter's "boxing age" is measured in the amount of punishment he has received in terms of duration of fights, KOs, injuries etc. I would say that Tyson with only 2 KOs against him and 3round fights on average is a lot younger than a lot of mediocre boxers in their 20s with 5-25-2 (W-L-D) records and 10KOs on their heads.
On the other hand, Sapp with only a few years "fighting" has been in and out of hospital how many times?? (fractured ribcage twice, fractured skull etc)
That Tyson has been out of active duty for some time, has poor tactics/strategy in his latest fights, loses his temper and makes stupid moves, and does not work out as much as he used to, are all legitimate arguments and are indeed factors working against him, but give me a break, this is Sapp we're talking about, between a "has been" and a "never been" I'm betting on the "has been" (especially if this is Tyson)
As I have stated elsewhere, a Tyson that is 60% of what he has been is still 100% better fighter than Sapp.
In my opinion the only things Sapp has working for him are his 25cm height advantage, his 15cm reach advantage and his 50kg weight advantage IF he can get them into play.
But some questions here:
Reach advantage is significant for a boxer because he can throw straight punches (either attacking or retreating - defending) from a safe distance (out of reach of his opponent).
When have you seen Sapp jab?? Never!
Can he overcome his speed disadvantage and learn to throw fast "snapping" straights that would use his reach? In my opinion NO (he is like what 39+ anyway and "everybody" knows you can't teach an old dog new tricks)
His punches carry a lot of weight behind them but because of slowness this is distributed in a lot of time making them pushes more than anything else.
Bottomline:
Sapp's best bet would be to use his "football skills" against Tyson and try to frustrate him into losing his head and doing something stupid (biting, eye poking or whatelse) and losing by DQ.
If he survives the initial seconds, maybe he can do this by using straight arm pushes (not punches) using his 15cm reach advantage to keep Tyson's punches from hitting something sensitive, until he can pin him on the ropes and lean his extra 25cm of height and 50+kgs of weight on Tyson.
On the other hand if Sapp, or his trainers are so deluded as to try pitting him against Tyson in a "technical" fight he will be utterly ridiculed (best case scenario) or put in the hospital (maybe long term this time)
Take care all,
Hope this fight happens, so that we can have some reality based arguments but judjing from Mirco Fillipovic's site, it seems that CroCop is more likely candidate as a first opponent for Tyson in K1. (now THAT would be a fight!!!)

Okay, I may have gotten a little confused between this thread (Tyson vs. Sapp) and the other thread (How will Tyson do in the K-1). Sapp may not be the best or even the second or fifth best in the K-1 but... Tyson today is not the same fighter as Tyson pre-prison/Lennox Lewis.
Is he still a heavy puncher? Yes
Is he still dangerous? Sure
Is he capable of beating talented, hungry, hard training fighters who care about more than the mortgage? I haven't seen that Mike Tyson for a good long while.

I do concur w. Mr. Miyagi's predictions. And Tyson should easily clean out Sapp's clock. If I were Sapp, i would tell him to watch Holyfield & Tyson fights - And CLINCH like your holding for dear life, b/c if he tries to throw down w. Tyson, then hes dead. Tyson does have major psychological/ emotional disorders & I hope he is in a good enough of a training mood to do well in K-1.
Why do i want Tyson to do well in K-1? I think most kick-boxers have fully evolved their feet and knees & elbows, BUT NOT the Hands, as of yet! As a boxing afficinado for many years - I sometimes gasp in horror at the rudimentary boxing/ punching skills of many kick-boxers of K-1, ISKA. I've seen bruisers like Bernardo and etc., easily clean up many fights by just their brawling-like, snuffing style of power boxing. When I knew, that these guys couldn't last a round against even smaller, world class boxers in lighter divisions, who could easily outpunch, outslip, and outmove these bigger bruisers. As i've been observing MMA and K-1 develop, it needs Tyson so they can bring in excellent boxing coaches, trainers from great Boxing Assoc. to add to Muay Thai and other standup martial arts & fully close the circle on what a well-rounded & developed standup fighter really is. So I hope Tyson will help evolve the kickboxing world, by cleaning out many people's clocks...But as good as he is, he can fo this, ONLY IF he takes K-1 seriously enuff and trains for it. Otherwise, if he doesn't care & just wants the paycheck, what a loss for K-1 and the development of the stand-up fighter that would've seen what a very good boxer could do in the kickboxing world.

Yeah, Muay Thai and K-1 guys typcially don't use a lot of evasion too make the other guy miss. Their defense is mainly blocks and covering up and going for a clinch. (from what I've seen).
My only guess is that they don't do so because of the threat of kicks/knees (i.e. when bobbin/weaving for example).

Iron Mike
I cant believe the people in here that say Tyson is old and this and that.
I have seen a few fights against Sapp by CroCop, Hoost and "Minotaur" Rodgriguez where Sapp was beaten rather easily.
Sapp has heavy hands but he doesnt punch that well. Have you seen his telegraphing of punches? They come from his back and the side. He flails away. He does that with Tyson and bye bye Sapp. That doesnt work in boxing. Also, he doesnt know how to use the K-1 rules to his advantage because he doesnt kick. CroCop is much smaller and kicked his ass! Hoost is much smaller and didnt win but he was punching Sapp and hurting him. the "Minotaur" won by an arm-lock. Sapp was hitting the crap out of him but nothing to knock him out.
Tyson is winning, easily.

However I think Ernesto Hoost has some of the sharpest hands in K-1. I think he would be a pretty good boxer. Check out his video clips from sherdog. Razor Sharp!!
