Anybody got a busted nose from full contact fighting or any other form?
Now that i'm out of competing i'm beginning to wonder if i should get my nose repaired as the cartilage got broken in a lot of my fights & it is now twisted & presses against the outside of my one nostril, it isn't normally a problem except for when i catch a cold as it is always my best side that gets blocked & i cannot breath through other one while sleeping.

    Anybody else suffer from this?

I have a Roman nose....... well, a biiiiig conk. Unfortunately its the type that explodes with blood when struck firmly. I remember after one Thai lesson having to clean the blood and snot soaked the floor with my T shirt, and there were a load of young ladies waiting to do aerobics after I'd finished. Surprisingly none of them seemed to be impressed.

But I never got it treated. After the worst break I could twiddle it and eart it "click" for months on end, but it just seemed to right itself.

But, if yours is still causing problems, get it seen to? Why not? Its free over here!

Yeah. My nose is developing a slight 'bump' on the bone. First time it started was with my heavy-weight match when i took a massive straight right... signs of alteration started showing after that fight.

Things got slightly worse when that same guy got me with a knee during our sparring. First time my nose ever bled in sparring/fighting.

My coach says it takes a small operation to fix it - and that it should be done when ive stopped fighting.

If i keep this up i can get Israeli citizenship just by appearances.

        Ha Ha very good both!!!

Yes bri my nose is the same & most of my fights the doctor had to take a quick look at nose because of so much blood or on some occassions they didn't like it, & yes mine clicks a little & i can push it flat to the left but it doesn't budge to the right so my misses used to say " let a right hook in to straighten it up" nice i know.
I remember my first heavy sparring session with a guy going for a british thai fight in 1998, man i didn't think i could bleed so much or have such big clotts, i felt sick for about an hour after just from the sight of it.

On a different injury i remember the fight i had with the 1 rd KO that i got a front knee to the center of my rib cage & felt a crack but i never had any problem with it, weird eh?

The body is weird. You can hurt yourself bending over to pick up a penny (ask any Scotsman, they pick pennies up all the time) or you can be in a car crash and come out unscathed.

I had my nose broken once from a sucker punch in a street fight, probably the worst kinda punch because it was dark and I wasn't expecting it(I did eventually beat the fool silly). Blood started squirtin out all over, it didn't hurt at the time, but it hurt like a bitch for the next few days, the doctor suggested surgery to rebreak it and all that, but I left it alone and I only have trouble breathing when I have a cold-------and my nose kinda loops to the right now. And it clicks too

yeah same here, the cartlidge forms a curve & closes in the one side causing problems with colds.
Do you get a small amount of blood when you clean your nose? i have now for years but it doesnt bleed it just seems like it keeps trying to form a scab but this comes off every time i blow my nose, iv'e managed for years so i'll probablly cary on with it.

                  Hey Everyone,
I had mine broken by a fellow Marine Recruit, with a sucker punch years ago. The shot was a little hard to block, as I had my arms wrapped around and under a folded mattress at the time ...
I actually didn't realize it was broken, as it never bled. I was a little too pissed at the time to notice any pain either. I did realize it later, while comparing the before and after photos of my bootcamp experience.
Mine has a crook up at the bridge, but doesn't cause any serious problems. It can sometimes be a little difficult to breath heavily through my nose, but other then that, no issues.
                  I hope this helps.
                  Respectfully,
                  Harry

I don't do a lot of full-contact sparring in they gym; I'll go all out once every other month for 3-4 rounds to see how I'm doing.

When I spar, there is a moderate amount of contact (knock downs, standing 8 counts etc.) but we pull back alot. Fortunately (and unfortunately), people tend to aim their cross at my chin or under my eye so I get a purple bruise under my eye or a soar jaw which makes chewing painfull.

However, I have ran into some jabs at the nose a few times which have drawn blood and made my nose feel like it was pulsating with its own heartbeat Let me know what the doc says.

Oh yeah, after catching a few jabs in the nose my eyes glaze tremendously. Does this happen to you guys as well?

When I first started off Tae Kwon Do, I was sparring with a black belt.

The instructer said "no it's ok to spar without any gear on, don't worry"

                        *grumbles* f!cking McDojo *grumbles*

I got an axe kick to the right side of my nose, and it got kicked to the side!

It used to be perfectly strait, now it's off a bit!

That eye glazing is common. A good, low level, pre emptive strike is this?-

Stand facing the guy with your arms folded (not interlinked). Imagine you are right side forwards. The right arm rests on the left.

Whip your right hand across his face in a similar manner to a back fist. Your body swivels too, in the same direction as the strike. The fist isn't clenched. Your fingers gently touch your thumb, and you whip the back of your knuckles across his nose.

This will cause his eyes to totally stream, making it relatively easy for you to get the hell away.

                            Nice!!!!

Anyway i gotta another problem (injury?), i was training yesterday & during the warmup i was doing my hip swists (bend legs put arms bent at chest height and twist left/right) & each time i twisted when i got to my twist limit on each side i would get a crack feeling in my chest by my solur-plexis, i could feel the crick so bad that i eased off.
Anyway i didn't have any problems with my chest after & had an awesome session on the pads just doing punch combo's & using my left (non-metal) leg but what was playing on my mind was should my chest crick like this as the only time i ever remember it doing that was ounce when i did a pressup past the level mark & it cricked on the way up.
(im probablly over-reacting & it wont happen again)

                            Any idea's?

                              Hey Bri Thai!
Its technically not free over there. What do you think your 50 to 60 % tax rate is for over there?
