  • Montong vs ChenZhaojia

    From Sanshou.org
In Hong Kong, some of the most successful Chinese martial arts fighters have been trained by Sifu Chan Sau Chung. Sifu Chan is the leader of the Dai Sing Pek Gwa system, also known as "monkey style" kung fu. Sifu Chan's fighters have had remarkable success in open fighting, especially considering all were amateur, part time fighters. In November 1981 in another challenge match, Chen Zhaojia KO'd former Thailand stadium champion "Montong" with a throw.

Sanshou and Muay Thai are allmost indistinguishable to the untrained eye at striking range, except for the use of the side kick in SS.

In the clinch, both styles are different as night and day. San Shou practicioners try to throw their opponents as high as possible not only to score more points for higher throw, but to do more damage on the way down, slamming opponents on their head. Thaiboxers strive for clinch control so as to use great momentum to drive knees and elbows for KO and damage.

Both styles are very deadly. And if you keep up with fighters in both circles, they are willing to fight with each other's rules (Thaiboxers willing to fight with takedowns; Sanshou fighters willing to fight with elbows & knees).

Is there an organization that caters to both fighters interests in making matches and training with the other's techniques?

By incorporating both styles of fighting, you would create the ultimate stand up fighting style that allows leg kicks, punches, knees, elbows and takedowns.
