  • Question about Basic Occupational Qualification Training

Hi, I’m currently in the process of joining the CAF as a AVN Tech and have some question about the training. Once I have completed BMQ and sent to basic Occupational Qualification Training how is it? Would basic Occupational Qualification Training be like college with written test and exams ? Can you fail Basic Occupational Qualification Training, And what happens if you fail basic Occupational Qualification Training.

it is correct that it will depend heavily on the trade. I have seen members go direct from basic to trade training while others have had to wait almost a year. I have on several occasions had the school contact me to see if I was willing to employ a member for a few months while they waited for their trade training. it all seems to be a hit or miss situation with numerous variables in play.

Yeah, they cover a lot, but the thing that often gets overlooked in discussions is close protection training. It's a big part of certain roles, especially if you're moving into jobs that require high-security awareness and working in sensitive environments. The skills you get from close protection training are a game-changer, not just for specialized roles but also for dealing with unpredictable situations in general. Definitely worth taking seriously.
