  • Naked Warrior

Pavel's newest regimen, focusing on one-arm pushups and one-legged squats. Good read, good stuff.

    Agreed.

    Noone responded??

I have that book, naked warrior, and it has changed the way I excercise. He really does have good ideas on building strength. Now I do five one-armed pushups everytime I go into my bedroom, and 5 one-armed pullups everytime I go onto my backporch. Pistols have been added to my daily workout regime. I like the idea that you can take this knowledge anywere, even prison and still be able to workout. The old russian dances are pretty much just a way of doing pistols in public I guess.

That kid in the book that would climb over the his balcony everytime they ate dinner.
He will be a monster when he grows up.

I really like the idea of being really strong, without building up too much bulk. It's much better to be underestimated. I have shown the book to a couple friends, and instead of copying it, liked it so much that they went out a bought themselves a copy.

Yeah, I incorporated it in as soon as I got down the basics and I'm having good results with it. It took me a few days to get a full butt-to-ground pistol and the one-armeds are still a little weak but looking good

This program sounds very interesting. Is it designed to create bilateral symmetry and equal strenth for both sides of the body? Definitely sounds like good stuff.

His main focus is applying total tension throughout the body while doing the exercises and "greasing the groove" (doing them continually throughout the day at certain intervals, never to failure). I'm a big fan of Pavel's as he cuts right down to the meat of things, never makes it confusing, and always delivers.

Yeah, he gave a pushups program like that in an issue of Muscle Media. He said like do your max amount, then do like say 30% of that amount every half hour (Monday), then Tuesday was different, etc....it was good, I remember I did it and it severely upped my pushups.

Now aim for one-arm handstand pushups!!

Seriously though, anyone who can do one-arm pullups, one-arm handstand pushups, and pistols is seriously one strong-ass $@#$^%$&#%^Q@#.

I have heard of rock climbers though who can crank out like 50 one-arm pullups, cuz their backs get so strong.

As a side note though, they don't develop too much leg muscle cuz it ways them down and if you are mountain climbing, that could be a bad thing

Yeah, Ukrainian folk dance is a really crazy dance stuff too that really will build up leg strength. And Russian folk dances. Ballet too don't forget is good.

And breakdancing/b-boying is a very good one for upper-body strength, as it is very like Capoeira in the movements, except you are dancing. But it or Capoeira will do for your arms what Russian and Ukrainian folk dancing will do for your legs.

Well actually, Capoeira itself is sort of a dance too, but b-boying is a separate art form. The two are similar in terms of upper-body strength requirements though.

Interesting thread. I like the idea of one-armed movements, but you need a sold base to start on. I personally think pavel is quite boring, but to his their own.

Boring or not, I think his information is good and he is worth listening to.
