  • Free standing bags

Hi all, the local sports store has the wave master free standing bag on sale for $130. I was wondering if any of you have any comments on the bag, good or bad.

How would you rate the various free standing bags?

is there any particular reason you want a free standing bag?

Unfortunately yes, the only area I have to work with for both my son and myself is a small corner of the basement where the mat is.

It's a semi finished basement and I don't want to put any holes in the ceiling. Also don't want the bag fixed in a permanent location.

Are there drawbacks to a free-standing bag over a hanging bag?

There are plusses and minusses to each. But one thing is for sure - a free standing bafg is massivley better than no bag at all.

        Buy it!

which bag are you looking at. The black or the red one.

If you know the type I could probably get you it quite a bit cheaper.

Well, I have a hanging bag and that is the only type I have ever worked on. The only free standing I have ever seen have been the one's in Academy and I did not think they would do the job. The thing I think you should look for is a bag that would allow you to do low kick ( a kick knees), a mid kick ( kick to the ribs) and high (kick to the head). The bag needs to be sturdy enough that it won't fall over off every kick, but will give some. That is why I like the hanging bags.

I have seen some smaller stands if you have a space requirement.

The local place has the red "original" wave master for $139. I looked around a bit and I've seen it online for $109 but that's before shipping/handling charges.
