  • Busted Knuckle!

    Hi Folks

Was wandering if you could help me...

I havn't been to the doctor yet, but from my own self-diagnosis and from what others have said, it seems I've gone and put a hair-line fracture on my knuckle (middle finger knuckle).

I can't put any pressure on it when it's at a certain angle which means no more fist press-ups. And I can only lay into the bag for a short time before I realize i'm in pain. And it generaly hurts.

There's no swelling (so not just bruise, and i've had bruised bone before - doesn't last this long)

There's no disforming of the knuckle (so not a chipped bone)

It's not out of place (so not a dislocation)

So this is why I guess its a hair-line (but i'll see the doc soon)

Anyway, the point is WHAT SHOULD I DO? I've always loved using my fists and although I respect the palm-strike, I just don't wanna change my training like that.

Anyway I can get my knuckle back to it's old calcifide, non pain-feeling self? I really miss it!

And before you ask about how it happened...DON'T lol

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me

I had this happen to me... messed it up when i was drunk i wasn't involved with martial arts at the time though so it wasn't a big deal...i just couldnt use the heavy bag for a while.

so i ignored it and just didnt do too much with my fist/knuckle.
after about 2 and a half months, it still hadnt gone away completely. i would go at the heavy bag for like 45 seconds and it would start to hurt.

went to the doc and he told me it was most likely a hair line fracture of the middle knuckle. told me to go get an x-ray...

so when i got home again i got lazy and didn't end up going for the x-ray. i just decided i would ignore it a while longer.

a month later, the pain was gone.
    3 months total...
