just out classed him really, his positional awareness was so much better, he had his distance in tune and that, combined with his speed was the reason why he landed so many more punches and eventually won the fight.

If you hit someone on the crown of their head, you will injure your knuckles..especially if you accidentally land with your last knuckles.

Jorge got a nice clench on impact in a lot of his hits. I think that is an indication of a good street figther. You'll notice alot shyt fighters or martial arts brats don't do that. Holding your fists solid too impact isn't practical and deprives you of force from the closure.

Correction: Jorge is a 155-lb fighter as I've been told. Ray is 200.

            fight

The biggest thing in that fight was conditioning. Once a fight gets past a few minutes, if you are out of shape, you are all done. The other guy couldn't even keep his hands up, trying some weak ass spinning backfists. The big guy should have gone for the KO early and not stayed at jabs length. He could have landed some nice uppercuts, if he kept the fight at a closer distance. I guess the sign of a good fighter is making your opponent fight your fight.

Jorge's a Bodog belt holder right now I think. Dunno if there'll be a third fight if that's the case.

I think these fights are a great illustration of how important cardio fitness and strength are. Most often if a fighter has some reasonable basics and is fit he will win over a guy with technique and little fitness.
in the second, you tube video fight both fighters are more evenly matched but again you could see that simply being fitter would have won the fight.

I agree that fitness and strength are important to some extent, but so are rules.

Imagine if Jorge parried Team Kimbo fighter's heavy punch and kneed him squarely in the nuts. The fight would have ended faster. Or what if Team Kimbo fighter grabbed a 2 x 4 and smacked it over Jorge's head. Game over.
