I was impressed with Phil's performance in the last round round, had it not been the closing of the round Matt would of been KO'd!

Baroni has an exceptionally big mouth for someone with such modest ability. Take away his "probably" steroid enhanced physique and he wouldn't get past local events. It's amazing to see someone that big with such little punching power!! That series of punches he hit Lindland with in the final round should have done much more damage...

Phil's a dick but the guy has some skills. He hung and did well against Lindland. Lindland's the same guy who made almeida look mediocre and that's not easy.

And Matt Serra LOL, Phil would kill him. Serra has no punching or stand up skills and he has an extremely difficult time finishing. No Contest! Baroni would smoke him!

back to the main point though. It's nice to see him get beaten.

          later..........

I REALLY DON'T SEE LITTLE PHIL'S SKILL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF HIS BIG MOUTH........IF YOU CONSIDER BEING MOUNTED FOR 2/3'S OF THE FIGHT HANGING AROUND.....THEN I GUESS HE HUNG AROUND.......AS FAR AS MATT .......HIS TRANSISTION FROM STRICT BJJ TO NHB IS GOING TO BE TOUGHER THAN HE THOUGHT.......HE HAS TO REALIZE THAT HE NEEDS TO STRIKE TO FINISH.OR SETUP A FINISH WITH STRIKING FIRST.......BUT BELEIVE ME HE HAS THE SKILLS TO DESTROY THE NEWYORK SCHOOL GIRL.........CH

Hey Capt. why are you so on Phil? yeah he has a big mouth, like almost all the martial artist! You think Baroni is not a good fighter what? Have you seen I'm in b class show? he is dominating and in A class show he has made a name for himself in ighting in prelim. fight!. Yeah he got a big mouth but hell he fight and he make fight excitent. I gave him respect because for rying to create something in mma world is it just me but I'm tired of earing "I am going in the octogan to test my skill" its bullshit I prefer "I dont hate the the guy but it's my job I will destroy him!"

Howdy - This fight was a make or break fight for Baroni- He will either learn from it and move up- Or fade out of the picture having peaked-\
He needs legwork on the mat, He needs stamina work, and he needs a bit more discipline. Other than that he is solid. Hes only 23. So he has lots of time to hone his skills.
As for him losing against Serra? Dream on. Lindland was Olympic silver and he had trouble taking Baroni down. Baroni almost Koed him as well. Almeida was Lindands schoolgirl, and he is a dam good grappler. Phil would pound Matt into the ground. No offense to Serra. But his chin would not withstand Baronis fists. If the fight ever goes off Be sure to email me direct

IF YOU REMEMBER RICARDO GOT DQ'D.....NOT TAPPED OR DECISIONED......IF WAS ALSO HIS FIRST UFC FIGHT.....CHECK OUT THE ABU DHABI FROM THIS YEAR.......I SAW THE TAPE OF HIS MOST RECENT UFC FIGHT THAT WASN'T TELEVISED......HE'S GETTING BETTTER EVERYTIME IN STEPS IN THE RING....BUT I DO AGREE THAT MATT HAD MORE FOR HIM THAN MOST PEOPLE THOUGHT....I DON'T THINK THAT LINLAND GETS THE CREDIT HE DESERVES........

NOW......LET'S BE HONEST.......SHONEY CARTER BEATS MATT SERRA ON ONE PUNCH......SO BE IT......BUT MATT DOMINATES THE FIGHT......UP DOWN ON THE GROUND.......TOOK HIS BACK ....INSULTED HIS MOTHER ........THE WORKS......WE AGREE....OF COURSE......ONE PUNCH LATER IT'S OVER.....

NOW LETS FAST FORWARD TO LINLAND VS. BALONEY......IF LINLANDS BJJ WAS ALITTLE BETTER THE FIGHT WAS OVER IN THE SECOND ROUND........HE DID NOT SEE TO FINISH....HE WANTED TO PUNCH.......
OBVIOUSLY LITTLE PHIL DOES NOT IMPRESS ME....THERE IS NO WAY BARRING NATURAL DISASTER THAT HE BEATS MATT......AND BELEIVE ME MATT WOULD LOVE TO FIGHT HIM.........CH

                      please

Serra would have no chance of taking Phil down. Phil is hyping himself for fights, nothing wrong with that. He showed alot of heart and is a tough mother****er

i thought Phil fought well and showed a lot of heart when many doods would have quit. Linland is a tough opponent and Phil did give him some troubles.

Howdy- I can make excuses for Phil too- But that s BS. Sure He was bloated from being sick-cut weight too much , he had no endurance from being sick , had he been a bit less weakened from the get go he would have guillotined Matt in RD 1 and KOed him in Round 2 and 3. Maybe Lindand had an ingrown toenail too and would have Taken out Phil had he not been soaking it in epson salts. Its all "what if "...Heres the deal-
-Lindand outhustled Baroni, and Manhandled Almeida and Carter Koed Serra bro- period.
Almeida came back after his loss and Serra came back after his loss. I bet them both to win and won .Baroni will come back too- or not. . However, I feel that baroni was underestimatedfrom day one- Since he enetred Submission he was given no chance, and at every step, won, this was his first loss, and it was not a bad one. - The odds going into that fight were a joke-If they were an indicator- Baroni should have been out in 3 minutes, and Baroni was a couple punches away from making me reall happy. Lindland was flat on his back more than once.
Hes got a good chin hard hitting hands and decent grappling- He needs stamina work, legwork on ground and more discipline, if he goes back to school and learns his lesson- Hell be better for it. Hell never have Serras or Almeidas Legwork , but he can get skilled enough to defend better
As for Serra, he needs to continue honing his striking skills - he will never be a power hitter like Phil or have that type of chin , but he can get his placement lateral movement and defense enough to avoid being drilled.
Almeida- He looked pretty sharp last time out , did the job and did it fast . But he needs more strength training. Lindland overpoewered him. Perhaps he did that last time out .He seemed impressive.
Lindland- He needs work on his kicking- he also needs lateral movemt and submission work- Yes he should have locked up Baroni, if that was Almeida on top rear mounted, Phil would not have made it out. But then again- Almeida needs strength to put Baroni there- .
Its all just a game Howdy. I hope to play you soon Be sure to give me your opinion on some of the upcoming fights and perhaps we can "disagree" with some numbers .
                          Peace

                              Thanks Howdy- I think lol...
Anyway- I train a couple months a year. I m not a regular- But I do have "senority" over all but a few people on this coast. Lots of people come and go never to be seen again, old Bond takes a lickin but keeps on tickin . I wish i had time to train more, so i only progress at a snails pace. Not that I care, I specialise elsewhere. I am a personal trainer part time and mix it up insofar as training goes- My martial arts training is a small part of it. BJJ is an awesome cardio, as well as light strength and flexibility workout. This year Ive trained some at PerformanceJJ in Emerson. Its a sport BJJ gym and some of the guys there are pretty solid players. I also train some Judo in Westwood and Cranford. Last winter I did some Kickboxing stuff in Manhattan. I also Boxed and wrestled as a kid.
Your from Pa..Do you train at Maxercise? Years ago I trained a bit with Steve Maxwell at a couple Royce seminars. Hes a cool guy. . He was an original GJJ guy in that area. The first in Pa.
Peace. Out. I like this Icon below - Mousel is a rip. lol
