    Ok fair enough.

    That's a reasonable statement.

Maybe I should do more research on Vale Tudo fighters. This is a term that I'm not familiar with.

      A street fight...lol

Street fights don't seem to be a good idea especially for any known athlete with potential hand-to-hand combat, a thug would probably end up shooting them in reality so, you can always think of it as a real fight with a time and date, no holds barred, with 2 of the best....but in reality no average person is gonna mess with Tyson, Lenix, UFC fighters, lol....

I think Tyson is a great boxer but seriously he would get destroyed by guys like silva, fedor, arlovski, cro cop, and many more MMA fighters.. What is Tyson going to do once he gets taken to the ground? The whole thing comes down to experience. Yeah in a stand up battle Mike could hold his own but there is more to fighting than just standup.

Besides its not like MMA athletes cant take a punch.. the only way Tyson is going to win is by KO and I would think it would take some poor defense of an MMA guy to get KO'ed that quick.. After all this is how they make their living as well. David your argument is like saying I Tyson's toolbox only has a screwdriver in it but he can fix anything. An MMA fighter has a screwdriver, wrench, hammer etc. I know its kinda a cheesy example but you get the picture. Basically they have more techniques to end a fight than just punching.

I would love to see Tyson fight in UFC most likely would face andre arlovski or pride ( Fedor) Both men would destroy Tyson IMO. At least if I had to put money on the fight it would be in favor of the MMA guys..

lol trust me dude tyson with no gloves i think would be able to knock any one out no matter what size, good of a jaw, it dont take much for ur brain to slam aginst the side of ur skull u underestimate him way to much it sounds like u worship ufc and pride fighters they aint the best in the world. The NSA and CIA dont go to them and ask them to train our agents how to fight bottom line is ufc is a sport that has sum pretty good fighters but there far from the best.

And you are basing the whole thing on Tyson getting a KO.. Forget the fact that every boxing match has the clinch which gets broken up.. I doubt Tyson is going to knock anyone out in the clinch before he gets taken down. I'm not saying that Tyson couldn't get a KO but other people seem to think that MMA fighters aren't going to be able to get the clinch and takedown.

Anyways I don't really worship pride or UFC... I don't know where you got your info about NSA and CIA not being trained in that style.. i dont know you could be right, but law enforcement and other agencies have gone to MMA fighters for training. For example Pat Miletich has trained some agencies but I'm sure you didn't know that.

So if you're saying that UFC has good fighters but not the best, then where are the best ? I think some of the best fighters in the world are in UFC and Pride. I know this thread is just about tyson being the best fighter but I think if you put any boxer up against an MMA fighter in the same weight class they will get destroyed.. There have been Boxer vs grappler matches before and the boxers get owned most of the time. I'm not trying to suck the UFC or Prides d*ck but some of the best in the world come from these organizations..

Dont wanna bust any bubbles Okay maybe i do but it doesnt matter whether you are a mcdojo student or a special forces operator we all suffer the same chance of getting a moron for an instructor.

what i am trying to say is just because someone teaches an agency or special forces or the police doesnt mean they or the system they represent are the best at anything except marketing. (if you doubt that see the ground defense against knife thread i started)

We all have to use or brains, not out hearts and LOOK at what is out there, remove personal and system bias, and instead of crowing about the things you are so great at, figure out what you suck at, And find an art to add to your toolbox of techniques to fix that hole.

a warrior shouldnt give 2 shits where a technique comes from, all he needs to know is if it works and how and why it works...now later on certainly try to learn the history of your art but remember its better to be able to do it than to talk about it.

I was just saying if mike gets one to 2 hits in I think the fight over, thats what i was tryin to say I dont think any one can rly take a hit from tyson with no gloves and I do think tyson can be taken down easy since all he rly knows is how to box I was just talking about his punching power is not to be taken lightly And I did forget about kumora he did fight in these typ of organisions i think hes one of the best fighter in the world so i stand corrected in a way, but I rly dont see any fighter today that even come near him. O and i didnt know that pat trained sum of our agencies i knew that royce gracie trained the navy seals a little bit, dang if pat is teaching sum of our agencies I guess I overrated them.

I dunno about taking Mike to the ground. Mike is liable to go feral and rip someone's throat out with his teeth. As far as boxers getting owned, I want to see the best boxer in his weight class go up against the best MMA guy before I draw that conclusion.

It seems that Tyson being "the best fighter in the world" also involves the question of "does boxing match up to MMA?" the answer to this question is - yes. an example of this is vitor belfort's fight against wanderlei silva (a "vale tudo" fighter) in UFC brazil in '98. the knockout came in 44 seconds and vitor was wearing shoes so no kicking was allowed. many other great ufc fights have also demonstrated that boxing can in some circumstances match mma.

the flaw in this argument is that the fighters using purely boxing in UFC, Pride other MMA matches is that they would most certainly have trained in other martial arts, or at least know what to expect and counter it, even though they dont use them.

people also fail to take into account situational factors involved in a fight, for example, in a street fight, both parties might have consumed various degrees of alcohol, which affects their ability to fight. are we assuming that a "street fight" is in the confined area of a bar as well? (in which case kicks may possibly be useless). my point here is that it really depends on the situation, but i guess you guys would be thinking about that also.

as for the question of whether tyson would be able to stand up to MMA, to me, it would seem that people only have so much time that they can train. this means that in theory, if MMA fighters are spreading their training over grappling and takedowns, kicks, punches, throws etc then they are unable to spend as much time using their fists as a boxer. so in theory the handwork of a boxer would be better than that of an mma fighter. so in a crowded bar situation for example, if punches are thrown in close quarters it could well be the boxer with the advantage.

the point that tyson as a person would have to rely on a KO in order to end a fight, i think is quite valid. i dont think he would be wise to go the distance with an MMA fighter, purely because if that fighter was proficient in grappling, sooner or later he would be on the ground and submitted. and it doesnt matter how big tyson is or if he has 22 inch arms, it wouldnt help once someone grabs the arm and gives it a mean armbar.

tyson is clearly not the best fighter in the world, as he doesnt have any training in how to handle other forms of attack such as kicks, so there is one big hole in his defence. we can go on and say the same for takedowns etc.

if tyson got in a fight with someone such as david "tank" abbot, or "cabbage" (typical "stand and deliver" fighters) sure i would put my money on tyson. but if tyson got in a fight with nogeuira, fedor, arlovski or anyone else trained in grappling, and smart enough to keep the fight going long enough to take tyson to the ground and get inside his guard, i wouldnt be backing tyson.

haha tyson VS tank I would love to see that.. If that were the matchup my money would be on Tyson. I just think in MMA tyson would get owned.. for sure if it was a standup match Tyson would win and under other circumstances in a streetfight.. I would be more worried about tyson biting my ear off or some other crazy shiz rather than getting KOed..
