I was talking about thai pad drills, not sparring. What are you suggesting? And why are you so angry??

My bad I thought you were talking about putting on the gear and going at it. I don't know dude, like I said we have a guy in our BJJ class that does MT and he has been showing me a thing or two like how to hit and how to stand and all that stuff. We hit the bag for a while and then he holds the targets for us to hit and he holds the big pad on the side of his leg and we kick for practicing leg kicks. He doesn't give us a whole lot of terminology, he was just training for the purpose of fighting.

Dude, this is a perfect opportunity. I can teach you MT and you can show me Toro bjj.

BTW, thai people in general look fragile...lol, if you went at it full contact you would think otherwise.

What am I talking about??? Of course you are going to need the protection when I get fired up.....Yea, you better bring the pads.
Falcon, why have you become aggressive.

The best fighters that I have ever known have been the calmest.

The toughest gyms usually harbour the most humble and calmest fighters.

the ones with the biggest ego's that come from less vigourous styles usually dont last very long?

I am not aggresive I am just very confident in my fighting ability.

If you really want to drive all the way from Houston you are welcome to train anytime. Everyone is welcome to come and challenge or train.

Cool. What's the gym address? And phone no? Will I have to ask for the falcon...being that you are 6'2" and 240 should be easy to spot.

                  Falcon !

I van see that Humility is your strong point.

I have never heard any good fighter say what you have just said!

                  Have you never been humbled.

I have been to many silly classes of various types and they talk like that.

The reason is because their over inflated self opinion has never been properly tested.

If you go around talking that way you set yourself up for failure.

If you are so invincible, who have you beaten and in what competitions.
an over inflated self opinion without a proven track record,
isnt worth the paper it isnt printed on.
                  if you get my jist

The first lesson i learnt at muay thai was by a bouncer
who said "never brag, never even tell people what you do".
Then he showed me why, two huge scars !
One from a machetti and one from a crow-bar !
                  silence is golden.
feeling hungry all of a sudden,
fancy a piece of mama's home made humble pie !

I don't around talking trash to everyone........just to you....lol...If my confidence seems like arrogance you might be right and maybe I am wrong. I grew up where you have to fight for everything, you come down to south Louisiana on the bayous where I am from and you will see that the people down here fight with there own brother if they can't find someone else to fight with. Around here I don't have to say anything because most people looking at me know that I am a big S.O.B. and the rest of them know that I will roll with anyone win or loose.

                      Sounds rough.

I haven't had a chance to go to Thailand yet, but from the posts of some of the guys here (who have documented their visits with websites full of pics) they talk about Thailand as a laid back place; people are friendly and homely. Then when you step into the ring, its a whole different world.

Many American kickboxer in the 80s (some known, some lesser known) thought they were going to eat the Thais for lunch, but usually left in stretchers. Yet the Thais are so humble...

I have some tapes of some Thai fighters going at it over there and I will definately admit they are tough characters. If you can take about 50 good roundhouse kicks to the head and just shrug it off, then you must be pretty tough.

Not to mention elbows and knees.

I used to have the video of Dick Roufus vs. Kiatsongrit. Roufus comes in like its going to be short work, while Kiatsongrit is perfroming the Wai Kru. Roufus tries to block and Kiatsongrit's power rocks him. Roufus lands a few good head punches. They clinch; kiatsongrit lands one or two knees and Roufus is on the stretcher to the next hospital.

Fullcircle, did you train at Lanna with the others?

No, unfortunately my trips to Thailand were short, vacation or work. I was in the Philippines for a couple of years and took quite a few side trips (Thailand, Okinawa, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore, etc.) to check out different styles, schools, etc..

I know how those knees can be cuz I catch them all the time in BJJ class. Some of the smaller guys know they can't get me in a whole lot of moves cuz I can power out if worse comes to worse and sometimes if they can get to the mount they will catch me with a knee to the rib cage "accidently" of course.
