  • Serious question about rbsd

Guys, which system better prepares you for a real fight? by real I mean any situation that you may find yourself in where someone is really trying to beat the crap outta you right. I don't just want opinions, I want reasons cos I'm trying to decide which one to train in right.

I'm gonna say BJJ, not because you can take someone down and destroy them on the ground, but for other reasons.

You could be learning from a bullshit Kung fu McDojo type place, I'm not saying they all are, but how would you check.

In BJJ, you can easily find out instructors lineage.

In BJJ you go full contact, full intensity everytime, this gets you in better shape, which can be a big factor in any fight, and it gives you that contact, and struggle thing.

And most importantly, it will give you the means to, GET OFF THE GROUND, or at least get out from the bottom. How many streetfights have you seen where the guy on the bottom loses simply because in their stumbling to the ground he ended up on the bottom...

Weapons and multiple attackers negate any skills... grappling is as effective against both of those as striking, which is little. A good throw(quick and easy against an untrained attacker) will end the fight there. As will a good combo.

Sounds like you got an anti-BJJ agenda right, probably cos you know in your heart that an average BJJ guy could whoop your arse unarmed so you gotta reassure yourself by talking it big on the interweb right.

So ?ing ??un is better then; Why?

The only time BJJ is bad is when there is multiple opponents(any MA is not nearly effective in that situation). Going to the ground on hard concrete even if there's broken glass all over the place is really not that bad(as everyone makes it out to be), if youre a grappler, its alot worse for your opponent. And when weapons are involved, you run away, but if you absolutely have to fight, what are you gonna do, strike with an armed opp.? With grappling, you'd have a lot higher chance of winning because you coould neutralize the movement of the attacker's limbs which have a knife. But if YOU have a knife and you have to fight, use the knife, not grappling, duh. The truth is, alot of fights do occur without weapons and for a short period of time there is no one around, so a BJJ guy would definetly win even over a trained opponent quickly(unless that opponent was also a SKILLED grappler). The BJJ guy could flee after the fight has been ended(which ever way possible with grappling involved) to avoid other enemies.
Although BJJ has sportitive training methods, that does not mean its not applicable for the street. Almost all MA with sportitive roots are applicable to REAL combat(wrestling, MT, boxing, Karate, Escrima). If you go to a BJJ school and grapple with anyone who's been there for a few months, you will be submitted quickly from guard and mount even if you already have grappling experiance that is not BJJ or submission based.

I think Bjj is essential for training in real fights, I been in enough to know they end up on the ground alot... but I think other grappling, such as throwing is better suited for real life. I mean if you end up on the ground on your back, then why not know how to get out of it I guess, better than nothing. I think the hope is if you grapple alot, you WONT end up on your back, you'll do the throwing(devestating on concrete/pavement/and even dirt, and that you'll have the leverage and ability to end it all. But yea, as far as fighting off your back, it's not even that great in an MMA fight, ESPECIALLY not good in a real fight.
